Hof der dingen - CO2-monitor: when numbers matter most

We must admit is some entrepreneurs are just more visionary and proactive than others. Long before the COVID-19 virus spiralled into a global pandemic that halted public life for a long time, entrepreneur Paul Renson from Waregem was already focused on air quality. As a business gift, he gave his clients a CO2 monitor – allowing them to measure air quality in workplaces and act if necessary. Why? Because improving air quality is the lifelong passion of this born entrepreneur. Paul Renson has been at the head of this family-owned company since 1982, representing the fourth generation to do so.
His ancestor Polydore Renson founded a small factory producing everything from door handles to window mechanisms and hinges. The next generations (Georges, Jan and Paul) took the company in a new direction and focused on the niche market of ventilation, patio covers, and solar shading to prevent buildings and houses from overheating. They also started a subsidiary specialised in door hardware – Argent Alu.
The following generations — Georges, Jan, and Paul — expanded the family business into a global player in the niche market of ventilation, sun protection, and patio covers. Today, door hardware also reaches end users via the subsidiary Argent Alu.
These days, Renson is active in over 70 countries, including Russia, the United States, Australia, and India, with the headquarters of this Belgian multinational still situated in Waregem.
The tagline of Renson is: creating healthy spaces – reflecting their core mission and the passion of Paul Renson. Although energy conservation is considered an important theme as well, it’s the health of end users that remains their core focus. The same principle was applied by Paul Renson within his own company during the COVID pandemic, during which he gifted each of his 1000 employees a CO2 monitor to ensure their health, safety and right to clean air – even at home.
