No, these are not work boots—though they are certainly a symbol of hard-working West Flanders. They are service boots, a reminder that our fire brigade is there not only to fight fires, but also to safeguard us during floods and other emergencies.These boots were a gift from the Bruges Fire Department.

Our heartfelt thanks to the men and women of Civil Protection, the fire service, the police, and all other safety and emergency services, for the protection and care you give us every single day. We do not take it for granted.
