Hof der dingen - Lights, camera, action, and… Westhoek?

‘Don’t believe everything you see on television, kid” – a life lesson most of us were taught by our parents or grandparents. And we must admit – sometimes, they were absolutely right.
Take the TV series Witse, for example, in which actor Hubert Damen plays protagonist Witse: a headstrong police officer. The show is set in the Pajottenland (province of Flemish Brabant) with Halle as its home base.
But, plot twist: a large part of the series was actually filmed in West Flanders – more specifically, Veurne in the region Westhoek. Westhoek, more specifically Veurne. It was José Clauw, then chief of police in Spoorkin, who provided us with this behind-the-scenes evidence. He called it “a silent witness of an unforgettable time – during which we even managed to teach Hubert Damen quite a few West Flemish words and expressions”.
And if you look closely… you might even spot a familiar face: our curator, Wim Opbrouck.
