Hof der dingen - Prutske

In 1905, writer Stijn Streuvels (the pen name of Frank Lateur) had his now-famous home Het Lijsternest built in Ingooigem (a sub-municipality of Anzegem), based on his own design. There, he would devote himself fully to his literary work. 

Until his death in 1969, Streuvels primarily wrote naturalist novels and novellas, in which he captured the essence of Flemish village life like no other. 

Among his best-known works are Het leven en de dood in den ast, De vlaschaard, and De teleurgang van de waterhoek. 

In 1922, he also wrote Prutske, a novel in which a proud father lovingly describes the small world of a little girl. But this wasn’t just any girl, or any father — it was the story of Stijn Streuvels himself and his daughter Dina, born in 1916 and soon nicknamed Prutske, a sweet Flemish term for a small child or “little one..
